Dolphin is a free, open-source emulator for Nintendo's GameCube and Wii consoles, supporting Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android. Originally started as a GameCube emulator in 2003, it has grown into one of the most polished and feature-rich emulators ever made, with near-perfect compatibility across both console libraries. Dolphin lets you play your GameCube and Wii game files in full HD resolution and beyond — all the way up to 8K — a massive leap over the original hardware's 480p output. It packs an extensive set of graphical enhancements including anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, post-processing shaders, V-Sync, and texture scaling. Beyond visuals, Dolphin supports real Wii Remotes over Bluetooth, Netplay for online multiplayer, save states, turbo speed, cheat codes via GameShark and Action Replay, and a built-in debugging suite for developers. The latest stable release, version 2606, introduced RetroAchievements support for Wii games and brought the last unplayable Triforce arcade game into working status. Dolphin receives updates almost daily and is widely considered the gold standard of console emulation.
