DuckStation
DuckStation is a free and open-source PlayStation 1 emulator focused on playability, speed, and long-term maintainability. It accurately emulates the original PS1 hardware including the CPU, GPU, SPU, MDEC, and CD-ROM drive, while supporting a wide range of games from the PS1 library. Unlike older emulators that rely on plugins, DuckStation uses a built-in, unified renderer that supports both hardware (Vulkan, Direct3D 12, Direct3D 11, OpenGL, Metal) and software rendering. It features modern enhancements such as upscaling up to 8x native resolution, PGXP (Parallel/Precision Geometry Transform Pipeline) for sub-pixel accuracy that eliminates the polygon wobble and texture warping typical of PS1 games, texture filtering, widescreen hacks, and cheat support. DuckStation also supports save states, analog controller rumble, multitap, memory card management, and a full RetroAchievements integration. Available on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android, DuckStation is widely regarded as the most accurate and feature-rich PS1 emulator available today.
